Cherry Blossom Festival haiku contest
October 30, 2008
You know the cherry blossom haiku you see on bus ads in spring? Now’s your chance to get your haiku up there!
Just enter the Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival haiku contest, which is open until on Friday, December 19. Come up with one unpublished English haiku on the theme of cherry blossoms, then visit the festival’s contest website to submit your entry.
As always, winning entries will be displayed on bus and SkyTrain ads next spring. The poems will also be read during a Vancouver Symphony Orchestra performance in spring, too!
SUBMISSION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO JANUARY 7, 2009
THERE’S STILL TIME TO ENTER THE 2009 HAIKU INVITATIONAL – The 2009 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival invites budding and established poets from around the world to submit haiku honouring Vancouver’s 36,000 cherry trees.
The theme for the 2009 Haiku Invitational is international friendship and the cherry tree.
Entry deadline is January 7, 2009.
Winning entries in five categories will be announced by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and displayed on TransLink buses and Skytrain this Spring.
