The August Buzzer is now out!
The August Buzzer is now out!
The August 2009 Buzzer is now on all buses, SeaBus, SkyTrain, and West Coast Express!
In this issue, we’ve got info about the Canada Line service launching Monday August 17, plus a list of the Canada Line bus service changes taking place on Monday, Sept 7.
There’s a GoCard reminder and info about Metro Vancouver’s new recycling locator. And Back Issues section talks about fares from 1940.
Again, we are proud to have a cover from Canadian illustrator Kate McLaren. It’s a beautiful illustration — thanks so much Kate!
As always, if you can’t get the Buzzer on the system, you can always read it in PDF form on our website. Visit our Buzzer PDF archives, which stretch back to the heady days of June 2006. (Here’s the direct link to the August issue PDF.)
Remember to enter the FareCard contest too! Win a free FareCard in every issue of the Buzzer: read the issue, then email in your info and the answer to the trivia question by Monday, August 31 at 9 a.m. to win!
Enjoy the latest Buzzer as always! Comments are welcome below.
Hi Buzzer,
We are thrilled to see Metro Vancouver Recycles featured in this edition! Thank you very much for sharing this resource.
Metro Vancouver Recycles now has an easy-to-remember web address – MetroVancouverRecycles.org
Thanks!

Fall schedules are also out

Just change the “143” to whatever bus route you want.
Hey, I’m not sure if this is already happening (sorry if it is) but I think it would be a great idea if the buzzer was sent out monthly as a electronic newsletter to emails. I know I like to find out what’s happening and would love a monthly reminder of what’s going on.
Thanks!

I’m really digging the cover picture! :) Awesome job Kate!!!
Jamey: I’ve passed your compliment on to Kate :)
Meghan: interesting idea! I’ll keep it in mind.
hey jhen….
is there a link to all the service changes that are happening on the quarterly sheet change on September 7th and a link for the layout of the Canada Line Station bays????
one more question……i know the official date for operation of the CLine is the 17th and 18th, but is there a date when they will open unofficially open to the public?
CJ: The 17th is the date the Canada Line officially opens to the public. It won’t be open before that.
Oh fiddlesticks! I’m working on that day :(
Arr — sorry CJ! But it is open from 1-9pm on the 17th, so hopefully you might be able to get there during that window of time.
About the Sept 7 changes: we are currently aiming for somewhere in the Aug 19 – 21 range for the full list of quarterly sheet changes that take effect Sept 7. Maps of the bus loops will be available soon too.
