Get on board with the Surrey-Newton-Guildford LRT project – June 13 to July 7

Surrey Newton LRT

Curious about the plans for the Surrey-Newton-Guildford Light Rail Transit (LRT) line? You’re invited to attend an upcoming open house to learn more about Surrey LRT and share your thoughts.

On June 13, we’re kicking off the next round of consultation, in partnership with the City of Surrey. You may remember that back in January 2017 we launched the first phase of consultation and we heard from more than 500 people at in-person events and 4,000 people through our online survey and feedback forms. Now it’s your turn!

What is the Surrey LRT project?

Phase One of South of Fraser Rapid Transit (aka Surrey LRT) will introduce modern, street-oriented rapid transit along King George Boulevard and 104 Avenue, connecting Surrey City Centre, Newton Town Centre and Guildford Town Centre.

We want you to weigh in on features of the new LRT and the overall project through an online survey and three drop-in open houses!

Open houses:

I’m still surprised we are going ahead with LRT. Lisa Hepner (and Surrey First) seemed to arbitrarily choose LRT when BRT has been shown to provide the same benefits for much cheaper. Has Translink not shared their business cases with Surrey? This money would be better allocated to SkyTrain to Langley or the Broadway Extension.

This LRT routing is a mess, how can they even think of approving this?
