LISTEN: Chatting with researcher Yuval Fogelson about Transport 2050’s transformative actions
TransLink is leading the development of Transport 2050, the region’s next 30-year transportation strategy that will shape the future of how we move and live. As part of the next phase of public engagement, between April 19 and May 14, 2021, we’re asking for the public’s input on three transformative actions: people-first streets, next generation rapid transit, and automated vehicles.
Listen to this wide-ranging conversation with urban designer Yuval Fogelson about Transport 2050’s transformative actions, including trends, as well as what he’s seen from his research and living around the world.
Yuval recently graduated from the University of British Columbia’s School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture with a Master of Advanced Studies in Architecture. He’s a researcher with Transportation Infrastructure and Public Space Lab (TIPSlab) and he completed his master’s thesis with the support of TransLink Tomorrow’s New Mobility Lab.
Yuval’s work focusses on sharing positive people-oriented public space transformations with the public. For example, his before/after project, which can be viewed at urb-i.com, used Google Street View to document these transformations. He also has extensive experience in master planning and urban design of transportation projects, spanning different countries.
