Upgrades coming to the SkyTrain’s SkyBridge
Upgrades coming to the SkyTrain’s SkyBridge
On July 31, TransLink will start construction to replace aging expansion joints along the SkyTrain tracks of the SkyBridge, as a key connection for Expo Line service between New Westminster and Surrey.
The expansion joints on the bridge have not been replaced since their construction and have reached the end of their life. This investment, which forms part of TransLink’s Maintenance and Upgrade Program, will keep SkyTrain moving safely and smoothly for customers for years to come.
Work is planned for the following dates:
July 31st – August 7th
Expo Line service will run in 12 to 15-minute intervals due to single-tracking between Scott Road Station and Columbia Station Platform 1.
August 14th to August 21st
Expo Line service will run in 12 to 15-minute intervals due to single-tracking between Scott Road Station and Columbia Station. Trains to Waterfront at Columbia and New Westminster will depart from both platforms.
Additional SkyTrain staff will be on-site to assist customers at affected stations in Surrey and New Westminster, as needed.
I guess we will see in two weeks what peak frequency or pattern is like while adding Production Way trips.
I also wonder if Mk2s will be pulled from Coquitlam to swap with Mk1 for capacity re-allocation (assuming 4 car mk2 can carry more than 6 car mk1) since I do not believe there is enough to run the modified service with just Mk2.5/Mk3. Either they will just put the 6-car mk1 out on the modified service or they will actually pull mk2 out of Coquitlam to ensure maximum capacity.
