There continues to be encouraging signs of ridership bouncing back, as people choose transit to take them to the places and people they love.

TransLink set a new single-day ridership high on Black Friday, as customers hopped on transit to shop for the best deals.

With 571,000 journeys on Nov. 26, ridership surpassed Halloween as the highest single day for ridership since March 2020.

Ridership is at 60% of pre-COVID levels, but this shows when people have somewhere to go, whether it’s deal hunting at the mall or trick-or-treating, they choose transit.

It’s something we have consistently seen as transit ridership rebounds from March 2020 levels. In September, transit experienced its highest boost in ridership in 18 months, as people returned to their offices and students to their classrooms over the four weekdays after Labour Day.

And oh, do we have places for you to go! Transit has been a safe and reliable way to get around our region.
