Help us celebrate Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day
Help us celebrate Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day
Once again, we’ll be joining transit agencies across Canada in celebrating Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day on March 18. This is a day dedicated to honouring and appreciating each and every one of our transit workers.
Transit employees are united by the common goal of delivering the best service to customers no matter where they work — whether it’s in the shop floor, in the drivers’ seat, planning for the future, managing our Compass Card system, keeping customers safe, or staffing our stations, just to name a few.
Here at TransLink, we have a saying: Together all the way. It means that we are here to help our customers reach their destinations and get home again – safely, reliably, and affordably.
We invite you in joining us in giving thanks this Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day.

I’d like to thank a bus driver who is driving the Vancouver/Highland route. He picks me up at Granville around 6:35-6:40PM Wend-Fri. He is always on time and consistent and that’s something I have not experienced in the past trying to catch the Highland buses at that time. It’s one of the last buses before the wait for the next one gets really long.
I don’t consider buses to be timely or reliable and I realize it’s due to many factors such as traffic or multiple stops. Somehow this driver does make it work and I just wanted to say a BIG ‘THANK YOU’ to him!!!
I like all the Translink buses — but especially the trolleys. Their gentle and neighbourly pace, quiet hum (inside and out), friendly and attentive drivers, comfy if somewhat time-worn interiors, and soft, rounded exterior look. Yes, the new electric buses are spiffy. But they don’t compare.
How about we all say “Thank you!” to the bus drivers when we get off the bus like the good old days, we can actually do it every time we take a bus instead of once a year on the Transit Operator and Worker Appreciation Day.
I have ridden buses in Europe. There the drivers are in totally enclosed cabins. One rarely sees the driver.
I appreciate that our drivers are accessible. One can ask them a quick question and one usually gets a polite and informative answer. I use the # 4 or # 7 bus to downtown and back to Kitsilano and am always surprised that most people thank the driver and the driver often responds. In todays hurried world this is quite amazing! Than you drivers!
I have been reliant on the Handy Dart for all my commuting for the past two years. I require a walker and the Drivers are always courteous and helpful as needed. On more than one occasion the service has been exemplary and above the call of duty! On these occasions I have phoned Customer Service when I returned home to compliment the Driver and to give the reasons. I’ll mention just one at this time. I had been picked up at my long time hair salon after having my hair trimmed and styled. Only my friends will really know how much I appreciated this kind Driver. Heavy rain had started ‘unexpectedly’ on my trip home. When the Driver parked outside the building where I rent an apartment he offered me a ‘very attractive shower cap’ so I wouldn’t get my new hair style wet and truly gone! I am a senior lady with very fine hair which does not accept rain! Although I was concerned about the rain and the distance I would need to walk to the entrance I never mentioned any of this to the Driver! I asked him: “How could I be so fortunate that you have a shower cap on hand that you can loan me for this walk to the door of the building!?” He explained that his culture does not like to get their turbans wet or they will be wet all day! Now I understood but he assured me he wanted to protect my freshly attended to hair and to please accept his offer! I didn’t need to be asked twice! I walked as quickly as my walker and I can to the front door and thanked this kind Driver profusely as I returned his shower cap! After which I phoned the HD Customer Service and told the patient lady this entire story and she assured me that this would be noted and the Driver would be given credit for his thoughtfulness!
I want to thank the wonderful bus driver of Route 361, who called me on the evening of January 11 to let me know that my daughter’s trumpet was found on his bus. He let me know when he was going to be driving by a bus stop near my house so I could meet him and grab the instrument. He saved the day and we are much appreciated of his thoughtfulness. Thanks ?
I would like to thank Andrew Liang who fixed the Stanley Park bus that was having problems at the Metrotown bus loop last year so that I could get to the urgent eye appointment I had. I am thankful to the workers who maintain the buses behind the scene for keeping the buses running.
I would like to thank our exceptional bus driver who got us safely down Capilano Road, through the Stanley Park Causeway and to Downtown Vancouver in the crazy snow yesterday morning. He was skilled and kind. Bus #9727 – 246 Downtown 9:00am. We were lucky to have him driving our bus!
