Drivefest Car Free Day takes over Commercial Drive from North Grandview Highway to 1st Avenue in Vancouver, on September 10 from noon to 7 p.m.!

The street transforms into a pedestrian-friendly festival, brimming with delicious food and drinks, local art, live music, and more! Celebrate local businesses and storefronts and experience city with more space for pedestrians, not cars.

The TransLink team will be at the event with our Ride & Shine bus, showing you how to ride transit and enjoy last Car-Free Days of Summer, and how to unlock special offers and discounts to your favourite spots.

Learn and practice using the bike rack on the bus, and board the historical, museum bus to check out transit artifacts, memorabilia, and a timeline of transit in Metro Vancouver from 1890 to now.

Fun fact! The museum bus is a 1957 General Motors TDH-4512 bus, commonly referred to as the “old look” bus. Why is it called that? You’ll want to stop by and ask one of the Transit Museum Society volunteers why!

Finally, taking transit is one of the most effective ways to reduce your carbon footprint. Take a car-free pledge this summer and visit your neighbourhood the environmentally sustainable way and leave the hassle of finding parking or paying for gas at the door.
