If you’ve taken transit, you’ve likely experienced the devastation of accidentally dropping your coffee, tea, or god forbid, your taco mid-commute. Maybe leaving behind the mess because you didn’t know how to report it to.

Well, customers can now easily report areas that require cleaning or maintenance attention via a simple text message. We’re testing a cleaning and maintenance text line at two SkyTrain stations in Metro Vancouver. The text line is currently available at Commercial–Broadway Station and Surrey Central Station.

How to report a mess at SkyTrain

If you see an area in need of cleaning or maintenance at Commercial–Broadway Station or Surrey Central Station, simply scan the QR code or visit the URL found on screens and posters throughout the two stations on your mobile device. In just a few clicks, a text message to the text line will be automatically generated to report any cleaning or maintenance issues.

A SkyTrain staff member will reply to confirm receipt of your message and may request more details. Cleaning and maintenance staff will then address and resolve any reported issues as quickly as possible.

Commercial–Broadway and Surrey Central stations are high-traffic locations with lots of customer movement each day. So, they’re ideal stations for this project.

Improving the customer experience

TransLink’s new Cleaning and Maintenance Text Line aims to make our stations more inviting for customers by improving overall cleanliness standards throughout the transit system.

This initiative also delivers on an area of opportunity identified in the Customer Experience Action Plan to create a safer and more pleasant experience for our riders.

Through the plan, we’re planning to make 40 customer experience improvements through 2027.

In addition, TransLink will be looking at opportunities to expand this project into other stations in the future.
