We want to hear from you about these proposed changes to Steveston Bus Exchange

Steveston Bus Exchange

We’re proposing changes to the Steveston Bus Exchange to reduce bus congestion and improve accessibility to local businesses. And we want to hear from you about what you think of these proposed changes. We’re running a public engagement until March 1 and you can share your feedback by filling out the survey.

The current layout of the exchange has layovers in front of retail businesses. The proposed layout should allow for more efficient bus operations and reduce impacts to residents and adjacent businesses.

The proposed changes include:

  • Improving pedestrian safety and accessibility by moving five bus parking areas away from the front of businesses and closer to the industrial land on the south side of Chatham Street.
  • Reducing bus traffic in the residential area along Fourth Avenue by moving the bus turnaround route to the industrial area of Seventh Avenue.
  • Adding enhanced bus shelters and new bus stops along Chatham Street.

In addition, we’ll continue working with the City of Richmond to locate a suitable site for a permanent off-street bus exchange in the future.

We’ll consider changes to the proposed layout based on feedback we gather through this engagement. Then, we’ll determine the next steps for this project.
