Picture this — you head out, but it’s not just about getting from point A to B this time. It’s a chance to unwind, stay active, and connect with nature. That’s the beauty of the BC Parkway!

Not only is it a key regional cycling connection that links Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and Surrey, but it’s also a popular recreational trail for walking, cycling, and rolling.

As we work to improve the BC Parkway, we’re asking for your input to help shape its future.

Your feedback matters

We’re planning upgrades to make BC Parkway safer and more accessible.

For the stretch between Joyce Street and Boundary Road, we’re considering two options for separating cyclists and pedestrians.

Option A

Cyclists use the upper path, with pedestrians on the lower path.

Option B

Pedestrians use the upper path, while cyclists take the lower path.

We’d love to hear which option you prefer!

Take the survey, which will be open through November 11, 2024, and share your thoughts on this section of the BC Parkway.

If you have questions about the proposed BC Parkway changes from Joyce Street to Boundary Road, you can reach us at publicengagement@translink.ca.

The BC Parkway Upgrade Program

The BC Parkway Upgrade Program focuses on making the path safer and more accessible for everyone, whether you’re commuting or exploring. Think wider paths, safer crossings, brighter lighting, and clearer signage. We’re also working on separating pathways to reduce interactions between cyclists and pedestrians. This will help ensure everyone has the space they need to move comfortably, whether on wheels or on foot.

The 26-kilometre BC Parkway was originally built almost 40 years ago and connects neighbourhoods in Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster, and Surrey. Our BC Parkway Upgrade Program currently covers the following sections.

New Westminster: Stewardson Way

Upgrades are underway, with new crossings, better lighting, and improved connections between River Drive and 14th Street.

Burnaby and Vancouver

We’re designing improvements for the sections between Imperial Street and Buller Avenue and from Joyce-Collingwood Station to Patterson Station.

At the Boundary Road crossing, we’re exploring both at-grade and overpass options while considering feasibility, safety for pedestrians and cyclists, and available funding.

The BC Parkway Upgrade program reflects TransLink’s commitment to making active transportation more accessible for everyone. While we’re excited about these plans, future projects will depend on funding secured through the 2025 Investment Plan.
