TransLink’s Vaisakhi bus, unwrapped

Vaisakhi is the annual spring festival in South Asian culture, marking a time for the community to come together and celebrate.
Every April, communities across Metro Vancouver come together to celebrate creating one of the largest Vaisakhi celebrations outside of India.
At TransLink, we take part in this celebration by bringing the spirit of Vaisakhi to the streets, literally! Each year, we wrap one of our buses in a colourful, meaningful design that reflects the joy, unity, and cultural richness of the festival.
About TransLink’s Vaisakhi bus design
In keeping with the theme of harvest and unity, the Vaisakhi bus is decorated with important symbols.
Wheat represents the season of harvest, while traditional dancers symbolize the power of unity and the drummer marks the joyous spirit of celebration. Festival participants often dress in vibrant colours, and this year’s Vaisakhi bus reflects that vibrancy in the many beautiful colours.
How to see the Vaisakhi bus
Catch the bus on the R1 King George Blvd RapidBus, R4 41st Ave RapidBus, and R6 Scott Road RapidBus routes!
When you see it, snap a photo and tag us on social media using @TransLink. We’d love to see how you’re celebrating with us on transit.
Vaisakhi also holds a special place in the hearts of our employees. Pall Beesla with Coast Mountain Bus Company has helped support Vancouver’s Vaisakhi parade for over a decade. His story highlights the deep personal and cultural connection many of our staff have with this event.
Better include the R6 in the post since it’s operated in the same depot as the R1 and R4)
Very nice. Happy baisakhi. Punjabi sikh culture awesome.
