There is a special kind of magic in the way Metro Vancouver moves. It’s in the unmistakable do do doo of the SkyTrain, the whistle blows as the SeaBus prepares to make it’s journey across the Burrard Inlet, the “Thanks!” heard throughout the bus as passengers disembark, and the way the city looks from the top deck of a double-decker on a clear Vancouver day.

I Love Transit Week is our annual opportunity to lean into that feeling. From Feb. 9 to 13, we’re celebrating our riders, operators, and the system that connects us to our lives.

For some, transit is more than just a commute, it’s where life happens. Last year, we shared the story of Mary and Jake, a couple whose chance meeting on the SkyTrain turned into a 25-year marriage. It serves as a beautiful reminder that transit isn’t just about getting from A to B; it’s about connections, accidental or otherwise, that happen along the way. You never know who you might meet or how a single trip might change your trajectory.

What’s happening for I Love Transit Week

I Love Transit Trivia Night returns on Feb. 11. Join us at Patina Brewing Co. in Port Coquitlam for a chance to put your knowledge to the test. It’s a night of high-stakes (okay, medium-stakes) trivia, a chance to try out our amazing Platform Pilsner beer collab, win great prizes,  make new friends, and a chance to meet the people who help keep the system moving. Throughout the week, we’ll share inspiring stories from transit riders who have a unique connection to the system. Like this rider who channeled his passion for electronics to create an LED SkyTrain tracker or the story of one LEGO enthusiast who builds replicas of TransLink buses.
