For the ninth time, we’ve been recognized as one of Canada’s Greenest Employers. This award reflects our employees’ efforts to deliver on our vision of a livable region built on transportation excellence — one that is effective, efficient, and sustainable.

This achievement reflects the dedication of TransLink employees who advance our climate goals.

“When looking for a job 13 years ago, the top criteria was to work for a company that cared about reducing society’s impact on the environment,” says Donna Bartel, a Senior Sustainability Advisor at TransLink.

“TransLink does just that. It supports regional sustainability by encouraging people to use zero- to no-emissions transportation, and focuses on corporate sustainability by reducing the emissions of our fleet and facilities.”

Here’s what that looks like in action.

What makes TransLink one of Canada’s greenest employers

This year, we were recognized for putting sustainability into action for every part of our organization, from the vehicles on our roads to the people behind the work.

We continue to reduce greenhouse gas emissions

We’ve reached a major milestone early! By continuing to deliver the initiatives in the Climate Action Plan, we’ve reduced our greenhouse gas emissions by 47 per cent (reaching our 2010 baseline goal of 45 per cent reduction by 2030, five years early!).

Our work continues to achieve a climate-resilient and net-zero public transport system by 2050. We’re building infrastructure to support battery-electric buses, transitioning buses from fossil fuels to cleaner, renewable diesel and renewable natural gas, and partnering with BC Hydro to add EV chargers to Park and Ride lots near transit hubs.

We’re electrifying our bus fleet

Our shift to zero-emission battery-electric buses is already making a difference on the roads. Customers benefit from quieter, cleaner rides, while reducing greenhouse gases across the region.

We support sustainable travel

We continue to support initiatives that promote environmental awareness among commuters, like Car Free Days around the region. We’re also investing in infrastructure that supports walking, cycling, and rolling, using green bonds to fund critical projects, and working with suppliers on how we can collectively achieve sustainability goals.

Why it matters

After closing out an almost no-snow winter, it’s clear climate change is being felt in Metro Vancouver. The Canada’s Greenest Employer recognition shows that TransLink is leading the charge in climate action.

If you value environmental responsibility in the workplace, we’re spearheading the kind of change you might want to be part of.
