More bus service coming to 21 routes for better commutes this fall
Better bus service is coming to Metro Vancouver this fall.
Starting September 7, we’re improving service on 21 routes across Metro Vancouver to make your commute more predictable, better connect people to school and work, and support growing communities in our region.
TLDR
R2 Marine–Willingdon RapidBus extension
The highly anticipated R2 Marine–Willingdon RapidBus extension launches on Sept. 7. This route is a faster, more frequent, and all-day connection between the North Shore, Vancouver, Burnaby, and Metrotown.
The new connection makes it easier for people to reach jobs, campuses, SkyTrain, and major destinations along one of our region’s busiest corridors.
Delivered three months ahead of schedule, the extension replaces the 222 with more frequent, all-day RapidBus service between Park Royal and Metrotown Station. It runs every six to seven minutes during peak periods.
New route: 556 Gloucester / Langley Centre
Introducing the 556 Gloucester / Langley Centre route: a new weekday peak-only service to the Gloucester Industrial Estates in Langley.
Shaped by feedback from workers, employers, and the public, the new route makes it easier to reach more than 7,500 jobs in the area as this hub continues to grow.
Completed a year ahead of schedule, the 556 connects workers to one of Langley’s growing employment areas.
Service improvements on 19 more routes
We’re also adding service on 19 more routes that make everyday trips more predictable for riders connecting to post-secondary schools and job centres, while supporting students, workers, employers, road users, and communities.
With rising costs and congestion, having more reliable transit gives riders a practical option for daily trips to work, school, and other important destinations.
Adjusting seasonal service
We’re adjusting seasonal service this fall to provide more service to post-secondary schools like UBC, SFU, and Capilano University.
Seasonal service is rolled back on 18 routes, while six summer-only routes, like the 900 Bike Bus, are being paused until 2027.
These changes allow us to make better use of our resources and focus service in areas of greater demand — including post-secondary campuses, job centres, and growing communities.
