I Love Transit Week is upon us! It’s the one week we take out of the year to celebrate what we love about transit.

We want you to tell us why you love transit

Write an essay, snap a photo, write a Haiku, draw a picture, perform a song, or however you want to show transit some love then share that on social media with our hashtag, #ILoveTransit.

You can also email them to thebuzzer@translink.ca and we might feature it on our blog during the week.

Feeling lucky? Why not enter the the I Love Transit contest?!

Step 1. Figure out why you love transit.

Step 2. Tell us and you’re entered to win a Monthly Pass on your Compass Card! It’s that simple!

Rules

Check out the I Love Transit 2017 contest terms and conditions, but here’s the lowdown:

  • The Contest will open on September 25, 2017 and all entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. on October 6, 2017. Late entries will not be considered.
  • One entry per channel, per person so make it count! You can enter up to three times in total.
  • The Monthly Pass will be for one, two, or three zones, depending on where the winner travels.
  • We’ll announce the winners from a random draw on the blog, Twitter and Instagram!
  • To be fair to everyone, one person cannot win all three draws. So, if we draw your name for one of the channels, you will be excluded from the other two Monthly Pass draws.

Photos may be used in the print Buzzer, the Buzzer blog, tweeted by @TransLink, posted on the TransLink Facebook page and @TransLinkBC Instagram account.

I love transit because it gives me a piece of mind that I will not be late due to an accident on the highway.

I love transit because I can read, think, meditate, and sleep on my way to school or work. Translink’s continuing commitment to innovation and trying new ideas (route redesigns, double-decker buses, etc.) makes the experience more enjoyable with each passing year.

I love transit because it’s helping our region achieve goals that would otherwise have been harder to reach. This system also offers a plethora of travel routes and various options to board, thereby satisfying our unmistakable love of the outdoors + travel-commuting by public transport all in one fell swoop. And I think that makes it a win-win.

I love transit because it offers the fastest commute time from Surrey to Downtown Vancouver via Skytrain. Plus you don’t have to find and pay for parking. Go Expo Line!

I love transit because it’s easy to use and it helps the environment by “carpooling” people who want to go to the same place.

#Ilovetransit because it can get you any where in a flash! You can also get to relax, not worry about traffic and be a real bus enthusiast and take photos and videos! #Ilovetransit also because you get to socialize with random strangers, and maybe meet new people! Keep it up, TransLink, you are literally awesome!!

#ILoveTransit for so many reasons! I love to be able to read my book while I’m getting where I’m going, I love how convenient it is to get from point A to point B without having to worry about parking, how frequent the trains and buses are, and how nice it is to be able to look out the window and enjoy the ride!

  • By Trudie, September 30, 2017 @ 9:06 am

I love Transit because when I accidentally leave my phone behind on the bus my transit community works hard to reunite me with that tiny yet valuable piece of my life, from the helpful drivers to the honest commuters who made my lost property found property. Thank you Transit

  • By Michelle, September 30, 2017 @ 6:58 pm

I love transit because I get lots of reading done on my long commute, and I don’t have to suffer from road rage or the stress of finding parking and remembering where I parked!

  • By Shelley, September 30, 2017 @ 10:15 pm

I love transit because it lets me spend time with my nephews: exploring, talking, checking out the scenery and taking new forms of transportation (our favourite is the West Coast Express trains)

  • By Lara OD, October 1, 2017 @ 11:07 am

I love transit because it gives me extra time during my commute to read, snooze, drink a coffee or talk to friends since I don’t have to drive/pay attention. Every minute counts in a busy day!

  • By Mayuka, October 1, 2017 @ 2:16 pm

Hey @TransLink, #ILoveTransit because I can arrive at my work on time even though I have to cross the bridge. If only 240 runs more often during the rush hours, the bus would stop at my bus stop every time! (Sometimes they don’t stop because there are too many ppl in the bus already)

  • By Kevin, October 1, 2017 @ 4:45 pm

#ILoveTransit because it gets me everywhere in Metro Vancouver, from North Van, to Delta! It helps me and other students to get to and from school especially during rush hours, (unless they are late/full…)! Transit helps out everyone, especially me!!

  • By Sunshine H, October 1, 2017 @ 10:07 pm

#ILoveTransit b/c it’s a great way to introduce DD to getting around, so when she is older and doing it on her own, she will be confident and knowledgeable.

  • By Nicole N, October 2, 2017 @ 12:38 pm

#ILoveTransit because it speeds up my day, allowing me to spend more time with the people I love, doing things that are important to me!

  • By Diane T, October 2, 2017 @ 1:58 pm

#IloveTransit because I don’t need to drive and look for parking. It gets me to point A to point B quick — especially during rush hour.

  • By Lester C, October 2, 2017 @ 2:43 pm

#IloveTransit because there are a lot of routes for me to take to get to where I need to go. Also it’s a great safe ride home if you’re out late or had a few drinks.

  • By CH, October 2, 2017 @ 3:50 pm

I love transit because I don’t rest on the train/bus without having to be concerned about watching the roads for buses and cars!

  • By Eileen, October 2, 2017 @ 4:47 pm

  • By Jonathan U, October 6, 2017 @ 11:16 pm

I love transit because I feel good about not having a car (much less fossil fuel usage, carbon emissions, parking hassles, insurance registration, etc.) and still be able to commute to where I want to go in a convenient manner (workplace, home, shops, downtown, university, airport, etc.)

  • By Catherine Maw, October 7, 2017 @ 7:12 pm

I love transit because it is a convenient way to get to the Northshore and hike the different trails on Mt. Fromme and Lynn Valley. Since the Evergreen Line opened up and bus services have expanded, I can now explore the many, many different trails in Coquitlam’s Eagle Mountain and Cypress Mountain. It has definitely been a wonderful way to travel for someone who is car-free.
