We’re preparing to turn the page on 2017, and recently looked back on some of the TransLink enterprise’s milestones from the year.

Today, we’re sharing some of the stories that resonated the most with our customers on our social media channels!

(Psst…make sure you follow us on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn!)

#MyTransLink

Our customers take some of the best photos of our region and transit. That’s why this year, we launched our #MyTransLink series, showcasing some of the best photos of our region and transit from YOU!

There were more than 2,400 uses of the #MyTransLink hashtag on Twitter and Instagram that spawned 24 different #MyTransLink posts on the Buzzer blog. What was the most liked #MyTransLink photo?

Canada 150 Compass Cards

Our commemorative Canada 150 Compass Cards were a smashing success with our customers! You bought out SIX of 16 locations within 24 hours of them going on sale at Compass Vending Machines throughout the region and the cards completely sold out by July 4.

You also turned to our contest for your chance to win one of six Canada 150 Compass Cards with Stored Value through retweets and comments telling us what you love about transportation in Canada. We received more than 1,000 entries for a chance to win!

More than 212,000 followers and counting!

Metrotown Station escalators

The west stationhouse at Metrotown Station opened with four brand new escalators, two up and two down. At a height of 13 metres (43 feet), they are the second highest in the SkyTrain system, surpassed only by the escalators at Granville Station at 14 metres (46 feet). It instantly became an Instagram star as everyone shared their unique point of view.

#ILoveTransit

Since 2009, we have shared interesting stories celebrating our riders, transit enthusiasts and all the things we love about transit over the course of a special week dedicated to just that, our love of transit! This year, for our ninth year, we included a theme: Beyond—the future of transportation in Metro Vancouver.

Using the #ILoveTransit hashtag, we asked you to tell us what you love most about transit!

As well, we wanted teachers and students to unleash their inner explorer and take learning beyond the classroom. That’s why we challenged them to come up with their own vision for the future of transportation in Metro Vancouver to enter for a chance to attend I Love Transit Camp. We also offered free bus travel for kindergarten to Grade 12 students and ran a contest for teachers to win DayPasses to take their class on a field trip.

Thank you Metro Vancouver for a terrific year! We look forward to ringing in 2018 with you.
