Taking transit to the Fraser Valley just got easier
BC Transit has extended the Fraser Valley Express bus route (66 FVX) into Burnaby. The 66 FVX will now travel to Lougheed Town Centre Station and bus exchange.
This changes provides a more direct connection between Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
Previously terminating at Carvolth Exchange in Langley; the Fraser Valley Express service now runs direct into Burnaby offering much more accessibility for TransLink users.
Lougheed Town Centre Station has access to the Millennium and Expo SkyTrain lines, as well as a major bus exchange.
Nearby pedestrian and cycling routes easily integrate public transit with other forms of active transportation.
Service has been adjusted to better serve customers. Two extra weekday and two additional Saturday trips are now on the 66 FVX schedule.
Connecting communities
From Lougheed Station, the extension now provides Fraser Valley-bound riders a seamless journey to the Abbotsford Centre arena and the University of the Fraser Valley’s Abbotsford Campus. Both destinations are a short walking distance from bus stops along the route.
Customers can venture further out to Chilliwack’s Cottonwood Centre mall or visit the city’s historic downtown area.
Also available along the route are summer seasonal bus transfers to popular Cultus Lake and year-round connections to Harrison Lake.
TransLink worked closely with BC Transit on the FVX extension to provide better connection for riders across the region.
“Better linking Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley through transit was prioritized in our Transport 2050 Strategy. This route now better connects our communities and makes transit a more attractive option for commuters traveling in this corridor. The Fraser Valley Express is a major step forward for transit users,” explains TransLink CEO, Kevin Quinn.

Where is the inter urban when we need it ?
There are no RapidBuses at Lougheed Exchange. You keep making mistakes on Transit Information
There is no schedule posted under Translink or BC Transit. As per Nathan above misleading info?!?! You may want to double check today with your company!!!
The info is here:

One issue I see with this service is the number of transfers required to reach downtown Vancouver: Two. One at Lougheed and one at Broadway. This number generally doubles for those bound further north, west, or south.
It’s been well established that excess transfers lower the attractiveness of public transit in general.
The 66 should continue to downtown Vancouver for two or three trips during rush hours to make it more attractive to those where excess transfers are a barrier. The cost for these trips could be increased to help recover the higher distance and greater wear and tear of driving in Vancouver proper.
A Vancouver bound 66 would continue from Lougheed Station via Lougheed, Gaglardi, Highway 1, Hastings, and Burrard to Burrard Station. Drop offs at Cassiar, Commercial, and Burrard Station in order to keep stops to a minimum while still allowing for the maximum number of transfer options.
Nonetheless, this extension to Lougheed Station is a much needed and vital extension which does a lot of good for attracting new riders.
I’m not sure about BC Transit. Translink if you get compass card full it up with 1 day pass you can get any where with daypass
Plus it will save money in long run.
You actually don’t have to transfer twice as there are waterfront bound trains that run from production way station via lougheed – Braid – Columbia.
Yeah but if coming to Abbotsford, good luck! Half the time buses show up, I’ve had to walk countless times because no bus showed up, and this happens on a regular basis…worst transit service ever!!@
Congratulations for new route bus trip.!!!!
Do they let employees go to the washroom without being timed yet?
We should really build a high-speed train line to Hope. This might actually get people out of their cars.

SkyTrain will never get to Langleythis was in the times paper today april 22
Dear Editor,
Re: [Langley’s transport future,
Langley Advance Times, April 7]
A recent opinion piece about
transportation mulled over what
the SkyTrain light-metro will do
for Langley.
In the real world, a SkyTrain
light-metro will do little, but increase land costs along its route.
There is a big “if” to all this
and that the Expo Line extension
to Langley is now over $1 billion
underfunded as the cost has now
risen past $3.95 billion and troubles crossing the boggy Serpentine
Valley, and inflation may increase
this cost to over $4.5 billion.
So expensive is the project that
the province has taken it over,
leaving TransLink with egg on its
face.
$2.85 billion more than the
$1.65 billion, claimed by the
transit expert mayor of Surrey,
four years ago, when in a hissy-fit
demanded a switch from modern
light rail, to a proprietary and
very expensive light metro system.
The problem facing TransLink
is that they also have to source an
additional $3 billion to rehab the
Expo Line to increase capacity
and the ability to operate more
trains.
Thus in real terms the Expo
line extension to Langley will cost
over $7.5 billion and that does not
include the $2 billion earmarked
for new cars as the old UTDC
MK.1s have seen better days.
There is now serious talk within
TransLink to abandon the Expo
Line extension for now and use
earmarked money to complete
Broadway subway to UBC, now
estimated at about $5 billion.
Adios Expo Line extension to
Langley!
And to think, if Surrey’s mayor
did not have a temper tantrum
about extending the now obsolete
SkyTrain light metro system instead of building a much cheaper
and far more versatile modern
LRT, Langley politicians would
be cutting ribbons by the end of
2025, opening the new line.
the fvx is not the fvx and before they made the actual changes, they were and are still stealing from the riders. the fare is actually $2 to $2.25 a ride. NOT $5. If you read and sift through all the websites with multiple jurisdictions, and councillors have been notified of the shady business dealings; it is only $5 for 2 specific rides that only run between 315 pm and another before 6 pm. Perhaps one between 4 and 5 pm. BUT, it is not $5. it is $2.25 and or, $2. NOT MANY RIDERS ARE PAYING ATTENTION TO THE FINE PRINT. AND NO, I AM NOT BREAKING THE LAW NOR NOT NOT PAYING THE FARE. And if you dig even deeper, you will find certain media people with their families are stealing and calling it “revenue.”
