Free transit this New Year’s Eve after 5 p.m.!

We’re once again offering free transit for all services on New Year’s Eve! Ride free on the SkyTrain and SeaBus from 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 until the end of service. Ride free on the bus from 5 p.m. on Dec. 31 to 5 a.m. on Jan. 1.

During these hours, fare gates at SkyTrain stations and SeaBus terminals will stay open and you won’t be required to tap your Compass Card or use other payment methods.

If you begin your trip before 5 p.m., a reminder to tap out as normal to ensure you’re charged the correct fare.

New Year’s Eve service

  • Buses will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule with over 30 extra buses throughout the system and extra late-night service on some routes.
  • SkyTrain service will operate on an extended Sunday/holiday schedule.
    • Last train from Waterfront to King George at 2:16 a.m.
    • Last train from Waterfront to Lougheed Town Centre at 2:11 a.m.
    • Last train from Waterfront to Production Way–University at 1:40 a.m.
    • Last train from Waterfront to YVR–Airport at 2:05 a.m.
    • Last train from Waterfront to Richmond–Brighouse at 2:15 a.m.
    • Last train from VCCClark to Lafarge LakeDouglas at 2:22 a.m. (until 2:29 a.m. as far as Lougheed Town Centre only). 
    • Last train from Lafarge LakeDouglas to VCCClark at 2 a.m. (until 2:39 a.m. as far as Lougheed Town Centre only). 
  • SeaBus will be running on an extended Sunday/holiday schedule, with service every 15 minutes until 1:22 a.m. and every 30 minutes until the last sailing from Waterfront Station at 2:22 a.m.
  • NightBus will continue operating after SkyTrain and SeaBus service ends.
    • NightBus runs throughout the night on key routes in Vancouver, Richmond, North Vancouver, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster, and Surrey.
  • West Coast Express will not be operating.

Additional SkyTrain staff, Transit Police officers, and Transit Security officers will be on the system to direct and assist customers.
