Calling all musicians — TransLink Busker auditions are back
Calling all musicians — TransLink Busker auditions are back
Do you think you have the musical chops to delight Metro Vancouver’s transit customers?
We’re inviting musicians to apply for the chance to be a part of TransLink’s Busker Program!
Each fall, we hold an open call for musicians who want to perform at our SkyTrain stations as a busker.
Interested musicians have until Nov. 6 to visit translink.ca/busker to submit a short video and professional bio listing past performance experience.
Those who are successful receive a busking license valid for one year to perform at designated times and locations across the transit system. You’ll have the flexibility to use our new booking system to choose when and where to perform. Performances generally last about two hours.
Selected musicians will also have the opportunity to sell recorded music while performing and their profile will be added to the TransLink website.
Our Busker Program has been around since 1986 — coinciding with SkyTrain’s opening and Expo 86. That means for nearly 40 years, the popular initiative has given thousands of diverse performers opportunities to play at key locations throughout the transit system. It is an important platform for both professional buskers and emerging professional musicians in our region.
The Busker Program is part of our Arts and Culture Program, which features permanent and temporary visual art, including performances and music.
