Tap into a tasty Mediterranean food truck at Metrotown Station
Your next trip on transit could include something new: a delicious bite from a local food truck! We’ve launched a new initiative to bring convenient, local, and unique food options to transit hubs across Metro Vancouver, starting with Metrotown Station in Burnaby.
We’re kicking things off with Chickpea, a beloved Vancouver-based Mediterranean restaurant offering mouthwatering vegan and vegetarian eats. Their food truck is taking up residence outside the east entrance of Metrotown Station (near 62 Central Blvd.) Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on some weekends.
Whether you’re heading to work, coming home, or meeting friends, you can now grab a tasty plant-based meal on the go, all without leaving the station area.
Meet the first truck: Chickpea
Chickpea is no stranger to the street food scene. What started as a humble food truck in downtown Vancouver quickly grew into a community favourite, now with a storefront on Main Street and a regular presence at local festivals, farmers markets, and breweries.
Known for its vibrant, feel-good food, Chickpea brings a mix of Mediterranean-inspired, fully plant-based dishes to the table — err, transit. Think falafel, creamy hummus, bold spices, and creative twists on comfort food classics. Their menu features unexpected favourites like crispy chickpea fries, Mediterranean-inspired hot dogs and burgers that will surprise even the most devoted meat lovers.
The team at Chickpea is passionate about sustainability, community involvement, and making wholesome food accessible to all.
At Metrotown, you’ll find Chickpea’s full food truck menu available, along with mobile ordering so you can skip the line and pick up your meal on the move. Before heading out, we recommend checking the Street Food App to confirm the truck’s live location and operating hours, as schedules may change.
Why we’re doing this
This program is part of a larger effort to make transit hubs more vibrant, people-friendly places while exploring creative, new revenue opportunities. We’re reimagining the spaces around our system as more than just places to pass through, but as destinations where customers can connect, relax, and enjoy what their city has to offer.
By working with local vendors like Chickpea, we’re also supporting small businesses while introducing our diverse customer base to unique food offerings. This initiative is just one of the many ways we’re looking to enhance the customer experience.

Food Trucks on Translink land is a fantastic idea: especially a strictly-vegan food truck which is accessible to both omnivores and herbivores; as opposed to a meat-focused Food Truck that would cater to only omnivores. If this trial goes well, then what about at busy bus exchanges and Park & Rides (where it’s basically a food “desert”)? Btw, I learned about this only from the Daily Hive website.
